Viking® has announced the successful “float out” of its newest Nile River ship, the Viking Amun, marking a key construction milestone as the vessel makes its first contact with water. Scheduled to set sail in September 2025, the Viking Amun will be part of the company’s expanding fleet of modern ships for the Nile. It will operate Viking’s highly popular 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary.
“We are very proud of our growing fleet in Egypt, which we consider to be by far the most elegant vessels on the Nile,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “Egypt is one of the world’s most captivating destinations, and we look forward to introducing even more curious travelers to this extraordinary region in the coming years.”

The new Viking Amun, designed to accommodate 82 guests in 41 staterooms, draws inspiration from Viking’s award-winning river and ocean ships, featuring the signature Scandinavian design for which Viking is renowned. As a sister ship to the Viking Osiris, Viking Aton, Viking Sobek, and Viking Hathor, the Viking Amun includes familiar features such as a distinctive square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace. Alongside the Viking Amun, Viking’s growing fleet in Egypt includes the Viking Ra and MS Antares. Over the next two years, Viking plans to introduce five new ships in Egypt, bringing the total fleet to 12 vessels on the Nile River by 2027.
