Viking, a leader in river cruises, has opened reservations for its 2026 European river voyages earlier than expected. With strong demand from North American travelers, Viking has decided to open bookings for all 2026 departures ahead of schedule. The company, renowned for its iconic itineraries on European rivers, has seen increasing interest in its 2024 and 2025 seasons, with many dates already sold out.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, stated, “Our guests are curious travelers who are interested in history, art, and culture, which is why Europe remains our most popular destination.” Viking’s fleet of 80 river ships and more than 50 percent market share among North American travelers solidify its position as the leading river cruise line in the industry.
Some of Viking’s popular European itineraries include the Danube Waltz, Rhine Getaway, Paris & the Heart of Normandy, Lyon & Provence, and Portugal’s River of Gold. Additionally, Viking plans to expand its fleet with 10 new Viking Longships® by the end of 2026 to meet the increasing demand.
Viking’s excellence has been recognized with numerous awards, including seven Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards, top rankings in Condé Nast Traveler’s and Travel + Leisure’s readers’ choice awards for rivers, oceans, and expeditions.
