Viking triumphs: sweeps 2023 Cruise Critic editors’ picks awards

Viking proudly announced its recent triumphs in the 2023 Editors’ Picks Awards by Cruise Critic, the largest online cruise resource globally. Securing an impressive total of seven awards across luxury, river, and expedition categories, Viking outshone all other cruise lines. Noteworthy among these accolades were two in the luxury category—Best Cabins and Best Spa—both consistently earned since the inception of ocean voyages in 2015.

In the river categories, Viking received recognition in three areas: Best for First-Timers, Best River Line, and Best Service. The expedition category saw Viking clinching two awards for Best for Light Expedition and Best Spa.

Expressing gratitude for the prestigious recognition, Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, remarked, “We are honored that Cruise Critic’s editors have recognized Viking with seven awards, including awards in the luxury category. Because the word ‘luxury’ can mean something different to everyone, we are reluctant to use it to describe ourselves. But we are always pleased when industry experts categorize Viking as ‘luxury.’”

The Cruise Critic Editors’ Picks Awards, informed by editors’ impartial cruise expertise and firsthand experiences, play a crucial role in aiding travelers in choosing the best cruise vacation amidst a plethora of options. Viking’s notable achievements in the awards were accompanied by insightful comments from Cruise Critic’s editors.

In the luxury category, Viking’s Best Cabins were praised for their spaciousness, comfort, and meticulous attention to detail, such as heated floors in bathrooms and abundant sockets and USB ports. The Best Spa award in the luxury category commended Viking’s LivNordic spa complex, lauding its Nordic circuit and inclusive access in the fare.

Viking’s prowess on European rivers was recognized with the Best River Line award, emphasizing the consistency and serenity of the fleet’s Scandinavian-style design. Notably, Viking was acknowledged as the Best for First-Timers in river cruising, with commendations for the thoughtfully designed Longship fleet and attentive crews. The Best Service award in the river category highlighted the unwavering consistency and quality of service across Viking’s expansive river line.

In the expedition category, Viking’s Best for Light Expedition award acknowledged the blend of comfort and exploration on its expedition ships, featuring multiple amenities and activities. The Best Spa award in the expedition category praised Viking’s expedition ships for offering pampering options like the LivNordic thermal spa complex with its thalassotherapy pool, steam room, sauna, and other indulgent features.

This latest recognition from Cruise Critic adds to a series of recent accolades for Viking, reaffirming its position as a leader in luxury, river, and expedition cruising.
