VINCI Airports, Dominican ,

Since 2016, VINCI Airports, through its subsidiary Aerodom, has managed six airports in the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Government recently approved a 30-year renewal of their concession, extending it beyond the initial 2030 expiration.

During the renewed period, from 2030 to 2060, VINCI Airports will oversee the finance, operation, maintenance, development, and modernization of these airports. This includes constructing a new terminal at the Santo Domingo airport and advancing environmental initiatives, such as solar power expansion and the introduction of wastewater treatment and waste sorting facilities.

Aerodom will make an upfront payment of 775 million dollars to the Dominican state. This includes 300 million dollars immediately and an additional 475 million dollars upon financial closing in the first half of 2024. Additionally, Aerodom will invest 830 million dollars in airport infrastructure over the concession term, with 250 million allocated for the new Santo Domingo terminal.

This extension marks the continuation of a successful partnership that began with the first airport concession in the Dominican Republic. Achievements include modernizing passenger terminals, opening a new cargo terminal in Santo Domingo in 2020, and developing solar plants with a capacity of 7.5 MWc to reduce carbon emissions from airport operations.

Since joining the VINCI Airports network, Aerodom has seen a 6% annual increase in traffic at its Dominican airports from 2016 to 2019. From January to November 2023, the traffic increased by 17% compared to the same period in 2019. In 2022, Aerodom’s contribution to VINCI’s revenue and Ebitda was 191 million euros and 161 million euros, respectively, demonstrating a significant 84.5% Ebitda margin.

The airports under this agreement include Santo Domingo’s capital airport, the international airports of Puerto Plata, Samaná, La Isabela, and Barahona, and the national airport of Arroyo Barril.
