AirAsia is celebrating the recent groundbreaking announcement of visa-free travel from India to Malaysia with great enthusiasm. In response to the Malaysian government’s latest decision, Indian citizens can now enjoy visa-free travel to Malaysia, which is expected to ignite a surge in travel demand to this beautiful destination.

This development signifies a significant milestone in strengthening the bonds between the two nations. To commemorate this occasion, AirAsia has unveiled plans to enhance inter-country travel, including the launch of a new route to Thiruvananthapuram starting on February 21, 2024. Additionally, the airline has introduced special fares for flights between Malaysia and India, along with a remarkable increase in services. Beginning in the first quarter of 2024, there will be a total of 69 weekly flights and up to 1.5 million available seats annually for travelers between Malaysia and India.

For a limited time until December 24, 2024, travelers seeking adventure and exploration can take advantage of exclusive promotional prices to seven destinations in South India within AirAsia’s extensive network. These destinations include Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and soon Thiruvananthapuram. One-way fares start at just RM189, making it an enticing opportunity for globetrotters. Indian travelers looking to explore Malaysia can fly directly to and from Kuala Lumpur from any of these routes for only INR4,999, opening the door to Malaysia’s other exciting attractions from the capital city. Travel under this special offer is available from now until September 30, 2024, allowing guests to experience the rich cultural diversity, stunning landscapes, and vibrant cities of both Malaysia and India.

H.E. Mr. B.N. Reddy, the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia, expressed his delight, saying, “We are pleased that Indian citizens can now travel to Malaysia without a visa, which will enhance people-to-people connections. AirAsia plays a crucial role by connecting several destinations in India, ensuring seamless travel for visitors from Malaysia and India.”

Riad Asmat, AirAsia Malaysia CEO, added, “The 30-day visa-free entry for Indian citizens to Malaysia is undeniably one of the highlights of the year for us at AirAsia. Since our inaugural route to India in 2008, we have consistently worked to improve regional connectivity between India and Malaysia. We are deeply grateful to the Malaysian government for this significant decision, which will undoubtedly boost local tourism and foster cultural exchange.

“As we approach the end of 2023 with optimism and prepare to welcome the new year with a promising outlook for the travel industry, we are confident that this recent initiative will make Malaysia and its neighboring destinations more accessible and affordable for Indian travelers—a concept that once seemed like a distant dream. We eagerly look forward to collaborating closely with the government and other stakeholders to maximize Malaysia’s tourism potential.”

AirAsia operates a comprehensive network, serving eight and counting routes directly from India to Malaysia, including both northern and southern cities such as Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, New Delhi, and Amritsar. In February 2024, AirAsia will commence flights to the exciting destination of Thiruvananthapuram in the southern state of Kerala, marking the second direct route to the state after Kochi.
