Tourism Malaysia has officially launched its Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign in India, unveiling ambitious plans to welcome one point six million Indian travelers. Malaysia’s engagement with India’s travel industry has been unwavering. Earlier this year, Tourism Malaysia showcased its offerings at OTM 2025 in Mumbai and led a dynamic sales mission across Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Kochi. Continuing its strategic push, the national tourism organization is gearing up for SATTE 2025 in New Delhi, running from February 19 to 21.

Spotlight on Golf and Wedding Tourism

With an eye on India’s growing golf tourism market, Tourism Malaysia has mapped out a series of exclusive golf events across five major Indian cities, running from March to December 2025. New Delhi and Kolkata have already been identified as key hubs for these promotions.

Additionally, recognizing India’s penchant for destination weddings, Tourism Malaysia is partnering with Indian travel agencies to spotlight Malaysia as an ideal location for both weddings and golf retreats.

While Malaysia’s potential in the Indian wedding segment is undeniable, industry insiders emphasize the need for competitive enhancements to stand out against leading wedding destinations like Thailand, Turkey, the UAE, Bali, and Mauritius.

Rachit Jain, Director of Rashi Entertainment, suggests that offering fast-track immigration for wedding groups, along with tax exemptions and incentive programs for wedding planners, could significantly bolster Malaysia’s position as a preferred wedding destination.

Strengthening Travel Trade Ties

To further entice Indian travelers, familiarization (fam) trips for Indian travel agents and media professionals will be organized in partnership with airlines such as IndiGo and Air India. These trips will provide firsthand exposure to Malaysia’s diverse tourism offerings, reinforcing the country’s status as a top travel destination for Indian tourists.

With an aggressive promotional strategy and targeted initiatives, Visit Malaysia 2026 is set to make a strong impact in India, further strengthening tourism ties between the two nations.
