Passengers embarking on the inaugural flight to Queretaro, Mexico (QRO) with Viva Aerobus experienced a lively pre-flight celebration at the gate today. The festive event featured a performance by Grupo Folkorico, accompanied by music, cake, and snacks. This marks San Antonio International Airport’s 43rd nonstop destination.

“The announcement in October was already exciting, and witnessing passengers board the Queretaro flight today further solidifies our strategy to expand international destinations. We are aware of the substantial demand for travel to Mexico,” stated Jesus Saenz, Director of Airports at the San Antonio Airport System. “San Antonio and Queretaro are interconnected hubs for business, tourism, and visiting friends and family, presenting a unique opportunity for both cities to welcome new visitors.”

In addition to the nonstop service, the airline has established a partnership to provide San Antonio travelers with discounts for exploring other nearby towns.

“Today marks the commencement of a new chapter in air connectivity between Mexico and the United States through our new Queretaro-San Antonio nonstop service. We offer low fares and modern aircraft, ensuring a seamless travel experience,” affirmed Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus. “Queretaro residents can now explore the River Walk and everything San Antonio has to offer in terms of art, culture, gastronomy, entertainment, and shopping. Likewise, Americans can indulge in the vibrant city of Queretaro.”

The A321 aircraft takes just under two hours for the flight to Queretaro, operating on Mondays and Fridays.
