Warwickshire is set to celebrate the grand reopening of the iconic Brownsover Hall Hotel on December 6, 2025, following an extensive multi-million-pound transformation. Located in the heart of Rugby, this Grade-II listed Victorian Gothic mansion has been meticulously restored to blend its historic charm with modern British design. The reopening marks a new chapter for the hotel, as it promises an elevated guest experience in the picturesque surroundings of Warwickshire.
Brownsover Hall Hotel has long been a symbol of Warwickshire’s rich history and architectural heritage. Originally designed by the renowned architect Sir George Gilbert Scott in the 19th century, the property has undergone a complete redesign under the ownership of The Distinct Group. The company, which acquired the hotel in September 2024, has overseen an extensive renovation that respects the building’s historical roots while introducing contemporary touches that cater to the modern traveler.
The hotel’s new design blends period elegance with a fresh, contemporary flair, providing a unique setting that combines the best of both worlds. Guests will now be able to enjoy the comfort and sophistication of modern accommodations while still being surrounded by the grandeur of a Victorian Gothic masterpiece.
The transformation includes a complete overhaul of the hotel’s 28 bedrooms within the main house. Each room has been thoughtfully redesigned to provide a luxurious and comfortable stay, while still reflecting the hotel’s storied past. Along with the bedrooms, the hotel features several dining and leisure spaces, including the modern brasserie, Scotts, the popular Franks Bar and the charming Boughton’s tearoom, all of which have been refreshed as part of the renovation.
The Distinct Group’s vision for Brownsover Hall Hotel extends beyond its immediate structure. As part of their acquisition, the company also took ownership of the surrounding four acres of land, completing full control over the estate’s original 11-acre grounds. This expansion allows for future developments and enhancements that will further elevate the hotel’s status as a premier Warwickshire destination.
The renovation is not yet complete, however, as The Distinct Group has already initiated phase two of the project. This next phase will see the restoration of the remaining 21 bedrooms located in the hotel’s coach house and stable block. Once complete, these additional rooms will further enhance the hotel’s capacity, ensuring it can accommodate even more guests looking to experience the beauty and history of Warwickshire. The completion of phase two is expected in the first quarter of 2026.

Gareth Leakey, Managing Director of The Distinct Group, expressed his excitement about the reopening, emphasizing the importance of the project not only for the group but also for the local community. The significant investment in Brownsover Hall Hotel marks an incredible milestone for both the company and the people of Warwickshire.
Leakey highlighted that the hotel’s newly designed interiors, which draw inspiration from art and creativity, are a testament to the group’s commitment to maintaining high standards of excellence. He noted that the renovations pay homage to the building’s historic significance while ensuring that it remains relevant and welcoming to modern guests.
The restoration of Brownsover Hall Hotel is expected to have a lasting impact on the local community, bringing new visitors to the area and offering a luxurious destination for both leisure and business travelers. The team at The Distinct Group is eager to welcome guests from near and far to experience the grandeur of this Warwickshire landmark.
The Distinct Group’s investment in Brownsover Hall Hotel is part of a broader strategy to develop a diverse portfolio of hospitality properties. The group also owns and operates Hotel Cromwell in Stevenage and The Bedford Swan Hotel and Thermal Spa, with each property offering its own unique blend of luxury and comfort.
Brownsover Hall Hotel’s grand reopening is poised to be a significant moment for Warwickshire’s hospitality sector, as it offers a revitalized destination that honors the past while embracing the future. As the hotel prepares to open its doors, it promises to provide an unforgettable experience for all who visit, ensuring that Brownsover Hall remains a cherished part of Warwickshire’s cultural and historical landscape for generations to come.
