At the Saudi Travel Market 2024, Tamar Khakhishvili, the Deputy Chair of the Agency of Protected Areas of Georgia, shed light on the country’s rich natural heritage and the burgeoning interest from Saudi tourists in Tbilisi. She spoke about the diverse ecological facets that loom large across the network and cover 13% of the nation’s territory.

Tamar spoke about the national parks in Georgia and reiterated the fact that they strive to be a testament relating to the country’s commitment to preserving its unique biodiversity. Georgia is a year-round travel destination, offering sun-kissed beaches in Batumi and snow-capped peaks near Tbilisi that are ideal for skiing. Visitors can fully immerse themselves in Georgia’s natural beauty thanks to the state’s abundance of adventure parks, long hiking trails, and eco-tourism lodges.

She emphasized, “When people visit now in February, there is a lot of snow in the high mountains, making skiing possible.”

Georgia’s diverse landscapes and outdoor recreation opportunities have piqued the interest of the Saudi market. Saudi tourists, who value Georgia’s natural beauty, are especially drawn to the country’s high mountains, where trails lead to elevations of over 1,000 metres and provide breathtaking views and a distinctive viewpoint above the clouds.

Speaking about travel convenience, Miss Khakhishvili emphasized Georgia’s efforts to make it easier for people to see its natural beauties by mentioning the Middle Eastern countries—including Saudi Arabia—that do not require a visa. Georgia’s friendly visa policies and convenient flights make it a desirable travel destination for Saudi travellers looking to immerse themselves in the natural world.
