Welcoming media guests in the Gaylord area, Michigan

Last week, I pulled up the driveway after another day of amusing guests from media to the sarcastic tone of my college age son who is home for the summer. “Another tough day out rafting, playing golf or having dinner, Dad?”

Growing up with a parent associated with the hospitality industry for all his 20 years, he is knows the significance of welcoming media guests and making sure they enjoy superlative tourism facilities in the Gaylord area, and that they have a fun time doing it.

Hosting and entertaining media members are one of the prime responsibilities of the Gaylord Area Tourism Bureau. In the last few months, we’ve brought the golf journalists from Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Georgia in here. We’ve hosted WJR radio located in Detroit and Michigan Golf Live Radio and Television. Also, for the past 18 months, we have been working industriously to create an organization called the Association of Great Lakes Outdoor Writers. These are communicators from all types of media channels from all through a 10 state region who share outdoor experiences particularly hunting and fishing adventures.
