WeRide secures M1 And T1 autonomous vehicle licenses in Singapore

WeRide, a global leader in Level 4 autonomous driving technology, announces the acquisition of Singapore’s prestigious M1 and T1 licenses for autonomous vehicles (AVs) from the Land Transport Authority (LTA). WeRide’s Robobus is now authorized to conduct extensive public road tests in key Singaporean areas, including One North and the National University of Singapore.

This achievement establishes WeRide as the world’s sole technology company holding autonomous driving permits in China, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore simultaneously.

The rigorous conditions for obtaining the M1 License encompass various dimensions, including basic autonomous driving functions, obstacle recognition, avoidance maneuvers, redundancy in vehicle control by safety drivers, overall safety performance, and more. WeRide’s Robobus flawlessly completed these tasks within Singapore’s urban road traffic scenarios, meeting the nation’s exceptionally high safety standards.

WeRide’s swift three-month journey, from the arrival of the Robobus at Singapore’s Centre of Excellence for Testing and Research of Autonomous Vehicles to obtaining both M1 and T1 licenses, sets a record for the speed at which an autonomous driving company secures licenses in Singapore. This underscores WeRide’s international leadership in Level 4 autonomous driving.
