West Virginia Department of Tourism Unveils New Culinary Trail

The West Virginia Culinary Trail showcases top restaurants across the state, curated by the first class of West Virginia Chef Ambassadors. Diners can earn exciting prizes by checking in at these featured restaurants.

West Virginia Tourism Secretary Chelsea Ruby extends a warm invitation to travellers, both near and far, to add the West Virginia Culinary Trail to their must-do list for this winter and beyond. She adds, “While you’re tasting the best dishes the Mountain State has to offer, you might as well enjoy a side of adventure too. Plan a foodie road trip and stay a while in Almost Heaven.”

The West Virginia Culinary Trail arrives at an opportune moment, aligning with the growing trend of food tourism. Given that more than half of leisure travelers identify as food travelers, this initiative recognizes the significance of culinary experiences in enhancing vacations.

Embark on a culinary adventure and be among the first to experience the West Virginia Culinary Trail!

Check in at each participating restaurant using GPS location to earn one (1) point per check-in. As you progress through the Culinary Trail, redeem your points for exciting prizes. The inaugural trail starts in November 2023 and will be updated annually with new locations recommended by the latest class of Chef Ambassadors.

The More You Dine, the More You Earn 

As you explore the West Virginia Culinary Trail, the West Virginia Department of Tourism has exclusive rewards for participants:

• Check in at three (3) or more restaurants: Receive a WV Culinary Trail carabiner bottle opener.

• Check in at ten (10) or more restaurants: Receive a chef-selected local ingredient & custom recipe card.

• Check in at all restaurants: Receive a locally made charcuterie tray.
