Beginning April 10, travelers booking Economy cabin fares (Basic, Econo, or EconoFlex) on WestJet’s 737 and 787 flights will have the option to enhance their journey with the Extended Comfort seat, a first for the airline aimed at improving the flight experience. This premium economy option includes:

“The addition of Extended Comfort reaffirms WestJet’s commitment to providing a diverse range of products to enable guests to choose what best aligns with their travel preferences and budget,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “Conveniently located at the front of the economy cabin, guests will benefit from an enhanced experience that is aligned with WestJet’s values of affordability and accessibility.”

Guests can choose the Extended Comfort seat at any point during their travel process, whether at booking, check-in, or after purchasing through the WestJet Manage Trips option or the WestJet app. The fee varies based on several factors, such as the trip’s origin and destination, the purchased fare bundle, travel date, and seat location.

With its introduction on April 10, 2024, Extended Comfort will take the place of WestJet existing Preferred seating in the Economy Cabin. Guests who have previously purchased a Preferred seat for travel from April 10 onward will be upgraded to Extended Comfort at no extra cost. The option to book this enhanced experience will be available to all guests starting April 10.
