In an effort to infuse the holiday season with unparalleled charm, Westport is gearing up to debut its very first Westport Christmas Market on December 9. This event will transform the core of Kansas City’s Historic Westport District into a winter wonderland, captivating attendees from 9 am to 7 pm.
For this special day, the historic streets of Westport will be temporarily closed, providing the perfect setting for an enchanting one-day event that promises to capture the essence of the season. The market will feature 50 local makers and crafters showcasing a diverse array of holiday crafts, jewelry, clothing, dog merchandise, woodworking, 3D prints, candles, cups, bakery items, roasted nuts, and more. This unique shopping experience is not only an opportunity to revel in the magic of the season but is also free to attend. Additionally, there will be activities specifically designed for kids.
Attendees can fully immerse themselves in the holiday spirit with festive drinks and treats, all while live music and traditional holiday melodies create a joyful atmosphere throughout the district. The event also provides numerous opportunities for attendees to capture the holiday spirit with various festive photo ops. Notably, guests can also meet and greet KC Current players.
To add an extra layer of merriment to the day, Westport will host the Westport Santa Dash at 10 am, a beloved tradition that sees runners adorned in Santa costumes or race shirts participating in either the 5K or 1K event. The Elf Dash is available for kids aged 12 and under to join in on the festive fun. Participants not only get to enjoy the cheer of running Santas but are also rewarded with Santa gear or a race shirt, a participant medal, and delicious treats at the finish line.
Lexie Boyd, the Special Events Manager of the Historic Westport Entertainment District, expressed her excitement about the heightened holiday experiences. “As Westport unveils this magical holiday extravaganza, locals and visitors alike are invited to immerse themselves in the spirit of the season at the heart of Kansas City’s Historic Westport District,” Boyd stated. “Westport’s charming, walkable streets and shops provide the perfect venue to bring together local makers and visitors for a memorable Christmas experience.”
The Westport Christmas Market and the Santa Dash on December 9 are set to make Westport a prime destination for holiday cheer.
