The celebrated Hwangmaesan Azalea Festival, marking its 28th edition, is scheduled from April 27th through May 12th, inviting global travelers to immerse in the stunning azalea blooms at Hwangmaesan County Park in Dunnae-ri, Gahoe-myeon, Hapcheon-gun.

This event is a homage to the mountain’s azalea-blanketed slopes, standing out as a significant highlight among Korea’s natural attractions. With an elevation of 1,113 meters, Hwangmaesan Mountain is distinguished as one of the top three azalea mountains, famously transforming each spring into a vibrant spectacle of deep pink.

For festival-goers, accessibility is facilitated by shuttle bus services to the mountain’s summit, near the expansive azalea fields, ensuring an enjoyable visit for people of all ages, particularly attracting family groups. The festival’s program is rich with activities, ranging from traditional rituals to treasure hunts, cultural performances, and hands-on traditional experiences, complemented by the opportunity to savor local agricultural offerings and specialties at various food stalls.

Anticipation peaks as the first week of May is expected to showcase the azaleas at their most splendid, positioning the festival as an ideal family excursion during the month dedicated to family celebrations.
