March Madness Game Day

Marriott Bonvoy® is jubilantly marking its eighth anniversary as the esteemed Official Hotel Partner for the NCAA® and the much-anticipated 2024 March Madness® competition. This celebration kicks off with the innovative “Score Big with Marriott Bonvoy Game Day Rituals” campaign and contest. With Marriott International’s impressive collection of over 30 hotel brands, its award-winning travel scheme, and a plethora of experiences, there’s a Marriott brand to suit every fan’s preferences.

The lengths to which fans will go for their beloved teams are highlighted by their game day rituals, hoping such practices will secure a victory. A recent survey by Marriott Bonvoy, executed by Wakefield Research, reveals that 63% of sports enthusiasts believe in the ominous possibility of their team’s defeat if their pre-game rituals are not observed, with half of the respondents willing to don the apparel of a rival team for a week to ensure their team’s triumph. Moreover, an astonishing 74% of these ritual-following fans admitted they would jeopardize their employment to witness their team compete in a championship during work hours.

Marriott Bonvoy’s “Game Day Rituals” campaign captures the fervor and zeal of sports fans, featuring a diverse group of NCAA athletes, coaches, and supporters as they gear up for games across Marriott Bonvoy properties. Created and produced by Riott Haus Creative, Marriott International’s in-house creative agency, the campaign spotlights Sydney Carter, a women’s college basketball coach and Marriott collaborator, who is seen meditating at the tranquil JW Marriott Clearwater Beach Resort & Spa. The Fairfield Inn & Suites Raleigh Wake Forest amplifies the home advantage for University of North Carolina’s leading point guard and Marriott collaborator, Elliot Cadeau, with the school’s marching band performing an energetic rendition of “Roam,” linking to Marriott Bonvoy’s broader “Roam Around The World” initiative. Meanwhile, at the pet-friendly Aloft Tampa Midtown, a UCLA fan and his dog are seen in their game day attire by the pool, and Duke’s Blue Devil mascot is ready to motivate the team with his signature forehead tape for an upcoming game.

“Our Game Day Rituals campaign encapsulates the exceptional travel experiences that Marriott Bonvoy provides for travelers, from sports fans to players and coaches alike,” said Mandy Gill, Vice President, Continent Marketing, Marriott International. “Whether it is our convenient accommodations, exceptional associate service, or key amenities, each Marriott Bonvoy brand helps bring game day rituals to life, complementing every fan’s unique personality, passion, and lifestyle.”

In tribute to the game day rituals that fuel the spirit of sports, fans have a chance to win an exceptional experience at the Women’s Final Four® tournament in Cleveland, Ohio. From Tuesday, February 20, through Monday, March 11, fans can enter the contest by visiting scorebigwithmarriottbonvoy.com, registering with their Marriott Bonvoy number or signing up as a new member at no cost, and sharing their unique game day rituals. The grand prize includes flights, hotel stays, transportation, courtside seats, and dining vouchers for the Semi Final and Championship games, along with a game day rituals session with Sydney Carter.

Even those not clinching the grand prize in the Marriott Bonvoy Game Day Rituals Contest have a shot at excitement by vying for a Marriott Bonvoy Moments package, offering a similar fan experience. Marriott Bonvoy Moments grants members access to unparalleled experiences worldwide, from exclusive concerts and dining experiences to top-tier sporting events, leveraging points accumulated through travel and daily activities.

“Game day rituals are essential when I’m gearing up for a big matchup. As a player, putting on my uniform right-side first helped me get in a competitive mindset, and it’s still a tradition that I hold today as a coach to set myself up for success,” said women’s college basketball coach Sydney Carter. “Marriott Bonvoy’s Game Day Rituals campaign is such a fun representation of how important these traditions are for teams and fans, whether you wear a lucky jersey or meditate.”

As the March Madness tournament approaches, Marriott Bonvoy properties are all set to welcome fans and athletes for their game day retreats. The Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Tower, located a short distance from the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, site of the Women’s Final Four on April 5 and 7, offers premium amenities and breathtaking views close to major attractions like Lake Erie and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For those heading to Phoenix for the Men’s Final Four® at State Farm Stadium on April 6 and 8, the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown presents an array of upscale travel experiences, including a sunlit terrace pool and a top-notch fitness center.
