Tonight marked the prestigious gathering of wine enthusiasts at the annual Champion Wine Auction & Dinner within the vibrant ambiance of NRG Center, celebrating the distinguished winners of the 2024 Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. The event crackled with excitement as attendees bore witness to the auctioning of exceptional award-winning wines, with both the Grand Champion Best of Show and Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show surpassing previous auction records.

The Grand Champion Best of Show for 2024, the Beau Joie Brut Champagne AOC, NV, fetched an astounding $335,000, finding its new home with Laura & Matthew Hogue of Hogue Landscape Services, Andrea Bryant in loving memory of Bruce, Fidelis New Energy, and John M. Cotterell. Meanwhile, the 2024 Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show, the Smith-Madrone Riesling from Spring Mountain District vintage 2018, was acquired for $225,000 by esteemed buyers including Sire Spirits, J Alan Kent Development represented by Julie & Alan Kent, along with Andrea & Scott Fish and Randa & Ray Gilliam.

The auction showcased a meticulously curated selection of 62 lots, comprising 471 wines, all of which had been distinguished through the rigorous Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition. Against the backdrop of an elegant seated 4-course white glove gala-style dinner, guests indulged in an exclusive experience at tables ranging from $9,000 to $25,000, fully immersed in the realm of fine wines.

Simultaneously, a silent auction added an extra layer of excitement and opportunities for the attendees, enhancing the event’s allure with its dynamic synergy. The Rodeo Uncorked! International Wine Competition consistently draws the finest wine producers from around the globe, attesting to the discerning selection process. Among the 2,985 entries received, the United States, Italy, and Chile emerged as the countries with the highest participation. Notably, 539 entries hailed from Texas wineries, while the featured region of 2024, Chile, contributed 161 entries, reflecting its rich winemaking heritage dating back to the 16th century.
