In addition, Katowice will be the only city with a direct connection to Rimini in Italy, a popular holiday destination on the Adriatic coast. Flights from Katowice to Rimini will commence on March 31, 2026, with departures scheduled for Mondays and Fridays.
All new routes will be serviced by Wizz Air’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, a modern and eco-efficient plane designed to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, reflecting the airline’s commitment to sustainable travel.
Rijeka, located on Croatia’s stunning Kvarner Gulf, is a city with a fascinating blend of modern and historical influences. Known for its Mediterranean charm, Rijeka offers more than just a beach vacation. The city is a gateway to some of Croatia’s most beautiful islands, including Krk and Cres, while its historic sites such as Trsat Castle and the Cathedral of St. Vitus provide a glimpse into the country’s rich cultural past. Rijeka is also celebrated for its vibrant arts scene and thriving cultural festivals, making it an excellent base for travelers seeking both relaxation and exploration.
The city’s bustling port and promenade create an inviting atmosphere, while its proximity to other Croatian attractions, such as the Plitvice Lakes National Park, enhances its appeal to nature lovers. The new Wizz Air service will undoubtedly make this lesser-known destination more accessible to international travelers, offering a refreshing alternative to more crowded coastal cities.

On the opposite side of the Adriatic lies Rimini, one of Italy’s most iconic seaside resorts. Famous for its expansive beaches, Rimini has long been a favorite summer destination for European travelers. But it’s not just about sun and sand; Rimini is rich in history, with ancient Roman landmarks such as the Arch of Augustus and the Tiberius Bridge adding to its cultural cachet.
The city is also a gateway to nearby San Marino, one of the world’s smallest yet most fascinating countries, and the renowned Emilia-Romagna region, famous for its cuisine and rich agricultural history. Whether travelers are seeking a lively nightlife scene or a cultural journey through Italy’s rich heritage, Rimini offers something for everyone, from families to solo adventurers.
This announcement is part of Wizz Air’s ongoing expansion strategy in Poland, where the airline has seen remarkable growth. In 2025, Wizz Air operated over 61,000 flights in Poland, carrying nearly 13 million passengers, marking a 20% increase from the previous year. Wizz Air’s dedication to sustainability remains a core component of its strategy. The airline’s Airbus A321neo aircraft, which will be used for these new routes, boasts advanced fuel-efficient technologies that significantly reduce carbon emissions per seat.
