Travel And Tour World interviewed Xavier Pineda, the Director of Sales and Marketing—All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy. He shares on this year’s all inclusive vision at FITUR 2024.

Travel And Tour World: What are the plans of all-inclusive Marriott in 2024?

Xavier Pineda: Absolutely, we’re on an exciting expansion journey this year. Kicking things off, we’re thrilled about the Marriott Cancun’s debut in Mexico—it’s an all-inclusive resort that’s sure to impress. Following closely, we’ll be introducing Almare, a stunning Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort on Isla Mujeres. We are eager to expand our group of all-inclusive Marriott Bonvoy agents because our goals do not end there. Our goal is to strengthen our relationships with travel agents who have significantly contributed to our hotels’ business and the creation of remarkable experiences. Furthermore, we are excited to welcome even more Marriott Bonvoy members, as our membership is growing rapidly and currently numbers close to 200 million worldwide.

Travel And Tour World: Any special area of development?

Xavier Pineda: We intend to expand into a number of different segments. The family section is unquestionably significant. There is another one when we discuss adults exclusively, and as demand increases, more hotels are being built. The market for solo travellers is expanding, and weddings—which are a major factor in our segmentation—are in high demand at our resorts, particularly multi-cultural weddings. We receive marriage proposals from India, Jews, and LGBTQ people, and we conduct excellent research and choose fantastic locations to set the ideal mood for the nuptials.

Travel And Tour World: What is Marriott doing in the area of sustainability?

Xavier Pineda: We have three main objectives when we talk about sustainability,

The first is that we want to reduce carbon intensity by 20% by 2025. To implement that, we want to use recycled materials, new smart key systems in our hotels.

The second one is about water consumption, to reduce water consumption by 15% by 2025.

The third one is to reduce waste to landfills by 45% by 2025.

While it might sound ambitious, we believe it is crucial for our operational conduct pertaining to the future. Just to have a very conscious and realistic plan to accomplish.

Travel And Tour World: Please tell us about your interest in FITUR.

Xavier Pineda: Oh, it’s been truly inspiring, you know? The discussions we’ve had here have been met with such optimism. There’s a palpable buzz of excitement from investors keen on launching new Marriott hotels in the Caribbean and Latin America. The enthusiasm doesn’t end there; our partners and tour operators are equally eager to expand in these regions. Specifically, Mexico and the Dominican Republic are hotspots right now, drawing significant interest. It’s a great time for growth in these beautiful destinations.
