Thiruvananthapuram To Tambaram Special Train Extended After Strong Passenger Demand During Festive Travel Season

The Thiruvananthapuram Central to Tambaram special train service will continue to run until 28 October, announced Southern Railway with positive response for passenger bookings and demand for special train services during the festive season. The special train service provided during the Onam season will focus on to provide passengers with additional rail service between Kerala and Tamil Nadu to provide greater convenience for using the Southern Rail route during the busy season.

Southern Railway has extended the special train service operating between Thiruvananthapuram Central and Tambaram until October 28, offering additional connectivity for passengers travelling between Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The extension comes as the service continues to attract strong passenger demand after being introduced during the Onam festival travel rush.

The train was originally scheduled to operate only until September 2 as a temporary arrangement to manage increased passenger movement during the festive season. However, the continuation of high travel demand has resulted in the service receiving an extended operational period, allowing more passengers to benefit from the additional rail link.

The extended service will provide greater convenience for travellers moving between southern Kerala and Tamil Nadu, particularly during a period when passenger traffic remains elevated due to holidays, business travel and regional movement.

Extended Rail Service Strengthens Kerala–Tamil Nadu Passenger Movement

The Thiruvananthapuram Central–Tambaram special train has become an important additional option for passengers travelling across the southern region. The return service from Tambaram to Thiruvananthapuram Central will run on September 17, September 24, October 1, October 8, October 15, October 22 and October 29.

The additional departures will allow passengers to plan trips more easily during the extended festive travel period. The service is expected to benefit families, tourists, students, workers and other travellers requiring reliable rail connectivity between the two states.
