Northeast china, tourism, covid, harbin, rise in tourism

The seaside village of Yandunjiao in Rongcheng City, in the Shandong Province of East China, offering a scenic backdrop of ‘dancing snowflakes and soaring swans,’ has lured a great amount of visitors.

Yandunjiao Village, situated on the northeast coastline of Lidao Town, is enclosed by the sea on three edges. With a shoreline covering more than 7,000 meters, Yandunjiao stands as one of the most important habitations for swans and is well-known as the ‘Swan Village.’ From October till next April of each year, thousands of swans travel from Siberia to this area, Inner Mongolia along with other places.

Yandunjiao village has more than 1,300 traditional homes typically recognized as ‘seaweed houses,’ with few of them with a history of 300 years. These houses, built with stone walls and thatched with seaweed, signify the characteristic abodes of a fishing village along the shoreline of eastern Shandong Province.

Presently, these houses are well-known homestays for tourists, presenting a chance to know local culture while relishing the loveliness of whooper swans.
