AIRCAIRO, Egypt’s rapid growth airline, officially committed to purchase 15 A320neo aircraft at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026, the first of the order. This commitment represents the first step in the carrier’s long-term growth strategy. The aircraft additions will also strengthen their growing flight network. The purchase also is a strategic shift toward direct ownership of aircraft, and will allow them to operate their own air fleet instead of leasing Airbus planes, and will add increased efficiency and greater flexibility and control to its operations.

The new aircraft order will support AIRCAIRO’s ambitious fleet expansion plans as the carrier aims to grow from more than 45 aircraft today to over 130 aircraft by 2034. The additional capacity will help strengthen the airline’s domestic, regional and international connectivity while supporting Egypt’s expanding aviation and tourism sectors.

AIRCAIRO has experienced significant growth over the past five years, increasing its fleet from just seven aircraft to more than 45 aircraft. The introduction of owned Airbus A320neo aircraft is expected to enhance the airline’s ability to manage future network development while benefiting from the aircraft type’s fuel efficiency and advanced operational capabilities.

The A320neo family is widely recognised for its improved fuel performance, reduced emissions and enhanced passenger comfort, making it a strategic choice for airlines seeking sustainable growth. For AIRCAIRO, the order provides a foundation for expanding routes and meeting increasing demand across key markets.

The fleet expansion aligns with Egypt’s broader ambition to strengthen its position as a major aviation and tourism hub connecting Africa, the Middle East, Europe and beyond. With increased aircraft capacity, AIRCAIRO will be better positioned to support rising travel demand and create new opportunities for international connectivity.

The El Alamein International Airshow 2026 agreement highlights AIRCAIRO’s transformation from a regional carrier into a fast-growing airline with global ambitions. The move towards aircraft ownership demonstrates confidence in future market growth and reinforces the airline’s role in Egypt’s aviation development plans.

Hussein Sherif, Chairman & CEO, AIRCAIRO, said: “This agreement represents a natural next step in AIRCAIRO’s growth. Combining owned aircraft with our leased fleet gives us greater operational flexibility and financial efficiency as we scale up. The A320neo will provide the capacity needed to expand our network, serve the growing demand for travel to and from Egypt, and support the country’s aviation and tourism sectors in close partnership with Airbus.”

“We are delighted that this first direct acquisition from AIRCAIRO reaffirms the airline’s confidence in the A320neo to power its next phase of growth,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business. “The A320neo provides AIRCAIRO with the efficiency and flexibility to scale up its network. This commitment highlights the strength of our partnership and AIRCAIRO’s confidence in the A320neo to expand connectivity between Egypt and key international destinations.”
