GRT Hotels Launches The Great Indian Tourism Quiz to Celebrate India’s Heritage, Culture and Travel Stories

GRT Hotels & Resorts has unveiled the first edition of The Great Indian Tourism Quiz, a nationwide initiative created to celebrate India’s extraordinary heritage, cultural diversity and regional traditions through an interactive knowledge-based competition. Scheduled for Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM IST, the event will coincide with World Tourism Day and will be hosted live at the Radisson Blu Hotel & Suites GRT Chennai. Participants from across India will have the opportunity to join the quiz virtually after completing advance registration.

The announcement was made at a special press briefing featuring Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali, Dewan to the Prince of Arcot, who will take on the role of Quiz Master for the inaugural event, along with Vikram Cotah, CEO of GRT Hotels & Resorts. The initiative has been designed to bring together cultural awareness, tourism education and heritage appreciation while encouraging participation among young learners, travel enthusiasts, history lovers and people of all age groups.

Positioned as a celebration of India’s tourism identity, the quiz aims to create a deeper connection between communities and the country’s historical landmarks, traditions, destinations and regional stories. By combining learning with competition, the event seeks to inspire greater interest in India’s diverse tourism landscape and promote awareness of its cultural wealth.

The inaugural edition is being organised with support from leading tourism and industry organisations, including India Tourism, Tamil Nadu Tourism, ASSOCHAM, IATO, SICCI, SIHRA, SKÅL International India, FHRAI, EEMA and the Sustainable Development Council in association with the United Nations. The collaboration highlights a shared focus on strengthening tourism knowledge, cultural engagement and sustainable travel awareness across India.
