Abeid Amani Karume International Airport Recognized According to Seif Abdalla Juma, director general of the Zanzibar Airports Authority, the Abeid Amani Karume International Airport in Tanzania’s Zanzibar has been acknowledged as one of the premier airports in Africa.

Impact on Tourism Juma stated that the annual Airport Service Quality awards, conferred by the Airports Council International, will significantly bolster foreign tourist arrivals to the Zanzibar Archipelago.

Criteria for Awards Juma elaborated that the awards, based on passenger feedback collected through daily surveys in departure and arrival areas worldwide, encompass various categories such as most dedicated staff, easiest airport journey, most enjoyable airport, and cleanest airport.

Government Efforts Recognized The achievement was attributed by Juma to the government’s diverse endeavors aimed at attracting substantial investment in the sector.

Infrastructure Details The Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, being the sole airport in Zanzibar, had its third terminal constructed by Beijing Construction Engineering Group, a leading Chinese construction firm.

Terminal Features The terminal, spanning 25,000 square meters, includes 27 international airline counters and immigration counters, passenger boarding bridges, baggage handling systems, and security checkpoints. These features play a pivotal role in enticing overseas tourists.
