A Journey Through UAE’s Rich History and Culture

With a collection of over 1,500 artifacts, the museum is spread across six main galleries, offering a variety of exhibitions that blend ancient archaeology with modern installations. Visitors can engage with a range of exhibits, from archaeological finds that date back over 300,000 years to contemporary multimedia displays. The journey begins in the 600-meter-long Al Masar Garden, which leads to galleries focused on Sheikh Zayed’s life, the country’s natural landscapes, and the history of human settlement in the region.

Designed by renowned architect Lord Norman Foster of Foster + Partners, the museum’s opening adds to a stellar year for the UAE’s cultural landscape, following the launch of the teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and the Abu Dhabi Museum of Natural History, all part of the Saadiyat Cultural District’s mission to be a global cultural hub.

“Deep Roots and Eternal Heritage”: A Month-Long Opening Celebration

To mark its opening, the Zayed National Museum is hosting a month-long program called “Deep Roots and Eternal Heritage,” running until December 31. The museum will host a series of cultural performances, workshops, and interactive activities that celebrate the heritage and traditions of the UAE. The program blends music, dance, and storytelling to make the nation’s rich history accessible to visitors of all ages.

Highlights of the program include traditional Razfa and Naashat dances, a Gahwa immersive experience with Bait Al Gahwa, poetry, Taghrooda music, Nahma sailors’ songs, and Nadba mountain calls. The museum will also feature poetry performances, musical recitals, and practical workshops where visitors can learn traditional crafts. Guided tours of the museum will also be available, though pre-booking is required for workshops and tours.

For those seeking a unique souvenir, the museum’s shop, Al Nagwa Boutique, offers a curated selection of gifts and memorabilia inspired by the museum’s exhibitions. Visitors can also enjoy dining at the museum’s signature restaurant, Erth, as well as Al Ghaf Café and various garden cafes.

Visitor Information and Ticketing

The Zayed National Museum is open daily from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, with the last entry allowed one hour before closing. General admission is AED 70 for adults, while children under 18 and seniors can enter for free. Students and teachers enjoy a reduced fee of AED 35. Tickets can be purchased online at zayednationalmuseum.ae, and annual memberships are available for those seeking deeper engagement with the museum’s offerings.
