Published on December 4, 2025

Zayed National Museum strengthens the UAE’s cultural identity by presenting a comprehensive narrative of the nation’s history, values, and aspirations, allowing visitors to understand the depth and diversity of Emirati heritage. It emerges as a historic showcase by featuring rare archaeological discoveries, immersive galleries, and meticulously curated exhibits that trace the UAE’s journey from ancient civilisations to its modern achievements. At the same time, the museum fosters a unifying national spirit by highlighting the shared traditions, stories, and collective vision that bind the seven emirates together, creating a space where past, present, and future converge to celebrate the identity of the nation.

More than just a repository of artefacts, the museum acts as a bridge linking the seven emirates, showcasing a shared history that underpins the nation’s unity. Central to this narrative is the life of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. His vision, values, and lifelong dedication to the development of the country are woven throughout the museum’s storytelling, offering a personal perspective on the principles that continue to define the UAE.

Zayed National Museum presents over 1,500 carefully curated objects across six permanent galleries, blending archaeological discoveries, historic treasures, immersive audiovisual experiences, contemporary installations, and meticulously recreated environments. Visitors begin their exploration in Al Masar Garden, an expansive 600-metre outdoor gallery, before moving into galleries highlighting Sheikh Zayed’s life, the country’s natural landscapes, and the evolution of human life in the region, with artefacts spanning more than 300,000 years.

Each gallery illuminates how geography, innovation, trade, and faith have influenced Emirati identity over centuries. The museum seamlessly blends traditional and modern elements, with authentic reconstructions bringing history to life alongside contemporary artworks that reflect the UAE’s ongoing cultural evolution.

Zayed National Museum is designed not only as a celebration of heritage but also as a space for cultural exchange. It provides both residents and visitors with a deeper understanding of the UAE’s journey, highlighting the values, achievements, and aspirations that continue to drive the nation forward. Through its exhibits, the museum tells a story that is as much about the past as it is about shaping the future, reinforcing the enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed and the remarkable development of the UAE.

HE Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, said: “As the national museum of the United Arab Emirates, Zayed National Museum tells the unfolding story of the land and its people. It demonstrates the unifying power of our history and our culture, providing a space where citizens, residents and visitors can see themselves reflected in the story of our people and our land. Bridging past, present and future, it will help shape how we understand the UAE’s evolving cultural narrative. As a world-class centre for research and learning, it will inspire and equip the next generation of Emirati curators, historians and conservators, enabling our nation to further contribute to knowledge production and global cultural discourse.”
