Zimbabwe and Botswana have revived its talks on the construction of the railway line that would connect the countries to Mozambique, as this place is dotted with numerous beaches.
If this massive railway project succeeds, it would become one of the most notable infrastructure projects in the region.
This railway line would link more than two Southern African Development Community countries that will boost the tourism, business and communications between the nations.
The railway line is expected to link Francis town in Botswana, Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and the Mozambican port of Techobanine to facilitate enhanced regional and local trade and tourism.
In an interview in Harare, Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister, Dr Sibusiso Moyo, said these three countries have revived dialogue over the envisaged railway line.
Moyo said the matter was one of the items under discussion during Zimbabwe President, Emmerson Mnangagwa’s state visit to Botswana last week.
In the year 2016, the three countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for this massive railway project. According to the plan, the countries will spend US$200 million each towards the cost of the project with the rest of the work to be done through public-private partnerships (PPPs).
