Evacuation at Heathrow Airport leads to travel chaos and delays

Due to a reported evacuation at Heathrow Airport hundreds of passengers are facing lengthy delays to their journeys and many holiday-goers feared they could miss their flights.

 

 

A fire alarm that went off after 12 pm was responsible for the closure of the trains and roads leading into the airport. Many passengers took to twitter and complained that traffic had backed up down roads leading to the terminals.

 

A spokesperson mentioned that Heathrow  experienced a fire alarm activation that is impacting pedestrian subways leading to the London Underground, TfL Rail and Heathrow Express.

 

She apologised for any inconvenience that  it might had caused. They were also working with emergency services and following their emergency procedures.

 

A passenger said that what was going on near the tunnel 1,2 and 3 and cannot moved in about 15 minutes.Another was asking for updates and said that the traffic was queuing back to the Neptune Road now.

 

It was posted by a concerned passenger that was the Heathrow Airport T2/3 were evacuated or it was just the stations that were closed. By passenger numbers Heathrow is Europe’s busiest airport and the seventh-busiest in the world.

 

 

It was a record-breaking total last year when Heathrow handled 80.1million passengers .
