The evaluation was based on the Global Wildlife Travel Index 2019 conducted by True Luxury Travel, which is a UK-based luxury travel agency.
The list considered a lot of factors like conservation efforts, wildlife biodiversity, the prevalence of national parks and conservation efforts and protected natural areas.
This year, more focus was given around environmental sustainability, according to Lonely Planet.
The survey ranked Finland as the best destination in the world for wildlife travel, mainly due to the country’s high level of environmental sustainability, its exceptional and varied diversity of species, beautiful natural landscapes and conservation efforts. Finland has 39 national parks, and more than 73 percent of its land is covered with forest.
More than 100 countries and regions were included in the Global Wildlife Travel Index 2019. Among the top 10 countries, Finland was followed by Sweden, Brazil, Canada and the United States, Norway, Spain, Germany, Poland and Slovenia.
