For an unprecedented seventh consecutive year, Finland has secured the title of the happiest country in the world, as per the World Happiness Report. In an exciting development, Finland is eager to share the roots of its happiness with the global community. Visit Finland, the national tourism marketing organization, recently announced a summer program in Helsinki named “Happiness Hacks,” aimed at imparting the Finnish way of joy to international visitors.

This initiative, scheduled from June 9 to 14, 2024, offers a select group of travelers a complimentary experience in Helsinki to uncover happiness hacks that can be integrated into their daily lives. Participants will be accommodated at the stylish St. George Hotel and will delve into the Finnish capital’s rich culture and natural beauty. The itinerary includes engaging activities such as wild swimming, biking through lush forests, and immersing in the local arts, design, and culinary scene, all under the guidance of Finnish “happiness hackers.”

Interested individuals, who must be over 18, have until April 4, 2024, to apply for this unique opportunity. The application process includes an online form and a creative challenge on Instagram, where applicants share their own happiness hack and the reasons they should be chosen for this immersive Helsinki experience. Visit Finland will select participants based on these submissions.

The World Happiness Report, drawing on data from the Gallup World Poll, ranks countries based on citizens’ self-reported life satisfaction. Factors contributing to happiness scores include economic strength, social support, life expectancy, freedom, and integrity in governance and business practices. Finland’s exceptional happiness is attributed to simple yet profound aspects of life, such as connecting with nature, prioritizing mental and physical well-being, and appreciating design and art. Heli Jimenez of Business Finland highlighted that happiness in Finland is often found in life’s simple pleasures, suggesting happiness is not just a state but a skill that can be cultivated.
