Travel And Tour World : Can you tell us about your city?
Jose Andres Duarte Garcia: We are very pleased to be at ITB Berlin and in introducing Bogota. What we want to show Bogota is the nature we have, as you can see here and understand. You might somehow get an idea of how Monseratte hills and eastern hills are. There are lot of birds and species that people would love to enjoy in a capital city such a Bogota. You may also find one of the 5 best restaurants in Latin America. There is something unique that is blooming everyday in Bogota. There are more and more restaurants, that have some sort of fusion of food with typical and traditional plates that you might get to taste in our capital city. Of course there is something more important for us to promote here, which is the European Tourism because Bogota being the capital city and probably the only city in Latin America which has more than 450 kms of bike routes especially for the people who want to ride bikes hence we want to connect these networks with major attractions and definitely it is also important for us to highlight the collateral activities and all the big festivals we have. There are also a bunch of churches that we have in our Candelaria town. This is a historic and a very traditional place in our capital city that is actually getting a lot of attention by all the tourist who are coming to visit us.
Travel And Tour World: What kind of things do you think Bogota is most proud off?
Jose Andres Duarte Garcia: Well, definitely it is about the collateral activities we have. Since 2012, UNESCO declared Bogota as a creative city. Now we are a city of music and this is basically because in Bogota you will find a lot of concerts throughout the year. There is a full agenda for people who loves music who can not only enjoy the big festivals but at the same time a lot of restaurants, bars , full of music in life, that is basically one off the most important things we can highlight is the reason why UNESCO gave us this recognition or award if I can say.
Travel And Tour World: In terms of inbound tourism from other countries, do you see any new markets ?
Jose Andres Duarte Garcia: Yes, actually Bogota is the first city in terms of arrivals of the international tourists, we have now more than 1 million and 3 thousand visitors who come from international market and now we are looking into markets such as United States, Mexico, United Kingdom, Spain, Argentina and some markets which are very close to us such us Ecuador, Peru and we are looking into some exploratory markets such as China. We are definitely trying to put in all the attention into these markets and of course we are ready receive more and more of people from any country in the world.
