Attendees of FITUR, will know of Laciana Valley for its environmental heritage with our forests and species such as the bear and the capercaillie; the mining and ethnographic heritage; gastronomy. Spanish Mastín is a personal ambassador, and one of the symbols of the municipality. The dog will accompany our Mayor on Friday 25 at 1:00 pm, at the Institutional Presentation of destination.
With just 9,000 inhabitants, Valle de Laciana made its presence felt at International Tourism Fair, FITUR where only large national and international institutional bodies visit. In 2018, it appeared in the Official Journal of Fitur, as a TOP 10 destination. It was considered as Sustainable Tourism par excellence.
This small region, located north of León, between Bierzo, Babia and Asturias, reveals a great commitment to tourism in this edition; with the purpose to mark footprint one more year in FITUR with its tourism products.
The City Council has prepared a wide range of hotel, gastronomic, land of sausages, empanadas and rich desserts as fisuelos, but if something characterizes this area is its nature, positioning itself at the head of Sustainable Tourism, Experience and Rural , factors demanded by 80% of the attendees to Fitur. Laciana Valley is a Biosphere Reserve since 2003 by UNESCO, having mixed forests, a clear example of the Forest of Milky Teres of Rioscuro, being one of the most important and best preserved in Europe.
The most striking of the mountain of this Valley are its “brañas”; high grazing areas composed of cattlemen’s huts that enclose an ancestral tradition, where the farmer takes his cattle to graze, always counting on the help of the Spanish Mastiff, dog breed par excellence of our region.
Other than Nature, other aspects are Industrial Tourism, highlighting its mining tradition, which remembers the history of its inhabitants and workers, towers, tops, train tracks that invite to the ride and magical corners to be discovered, as shown by the Greenway or the Mining Railroad Natural Road.
In terms of sports and leisure tourism, its ski resort Valle de Laciana-Leitariegos, a few kilometers from the urban center, stands out. It hosts numerous competitions such as SnowCross, without forgetting the European Championships of Alpine Line: Xamascada, the RallySprint Valle de Laciana, the race BBT Treitorada and the Villablino Trail among others. Endless opportunities for those who want to know the Valley from the point of view of Sport.
On January 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27, all those interested in knowing the most touristic face of Valle de Laciana, may have more information in Hall 7, Stand 7C16, of the FITUR, International Tourism Fair of Madrid.
The visitors can find information on raffles for accommodation, tastings and lunches, beekeeping talks, sponsorship of a hive, heritage routes, horseback riding, simulation of rallies, ticket for Karting, use of climbing wall and zip line or ski lessons among others.
The future of this Valley includes Live Mine or the rehabilitation of the Center of the Capercaillie among others, determining factors for specialized tourism in the area.
