The Louisiana Travel Promotion Association that had voted on 23rd January to change its name to the Louisiana Travel Association has installed a new group of tourism industry leaders.
New officers for its executive committee and board of directors during the association’s annual membership meeting at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Lafayette.
From the Baton Rouge area, new officers have installed on the executive board committee.
They include Janice Delerno Verges of The Stockade Bed & Breakfast, Treasurer Kerry Andersen of Pinnacle Entertainment. Joining the board of directors is Dustin Gontarski of Compass Media and the one returning to the board is Raplh Ney who is associated with Marriott Hotel Baton Rouge.
From Ascension, Kevin Kelly of Houmas House Plantation & Gardens was named to the board of director.
In addition the group holds an annual Louisiana Tourism Leadership Academy.
The goal of the academy is to further educate people within the tourism industry by developing their leadership skills, strengthening their communication networks and informing them about the responsibilities of leadership in building and enriching their tourism-related organizations.
Class of 2018 members would be participating in six class sessions and deal with group projects throughout the year while learning from the experienced tourism professionals.
