As a part of the new crackdown on alcohol consumption tourists and bars in Mallorca could be fined up to  €3,000.

As per the new rules , bars will be banned from incitement drink which intends happy hour deals, two-for-one promotions and displaying counter tops will be scrapped.

For causing a public nuisance the holidaymakers can be fined for antisocial behavior while the rule will only remain applicable to certain areas in the island’s capital. This will include Palma, Cala Major, Center, Paseo, Maritimo and Playa de Plama.

Bars will be liable if people flout the rules and drinking outside is also barred in certain areas.

Carrer del Pare Bartomeu Salvà, Carrer del Llaüt and Carrer de les Canyes have been banned from Al fresco boozing.

From 1 April 2019 the ban will become effective and the move is initiated as the Balearic Islands is considering whether to limit alcohol served as a part of their all inclusive package holidays.

The Balearic Island minister for innovation, research and tourism, Bel Busquet said that the proposed law will help crack down on antisocial and the associated problems.

We want visitors to enjoy their holiday and endorse responsible drinking.

However, ABTA the UK travel trade association called the plans as misguided

Abta’s director of destinations and sustainability, Nikki White said that it targets the wrong market. Typically, all-inclusive customers in the Balearics are not 22-year-olds, but families who appreciate the convenience and ability to control budgets. Restricting their choices may drive families elsewhere.

A Tui, spokesperson said that they were open to engaging with the authorities to tackle any issues concerning alcohol consumption and inappropriate behavior. He accepted that all inclusive airport was a part of the problem but the data does not support the suggestion.
