Vietnam and the Republic of Korea’s tourism axis becomes stronger

Tourism exchange between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) was significantly successful in 2018, as per Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) in Vietnam.

 

 

In the first 11 months of 2018, an estimated 3.16 million Korean visitors have set foot in Vietnam. This recorded a 46.5 per cent rise as against 2017. Whereas there were 427,000 Vietnamese visitors to Korea, recording a rise of 42.1 per cent compared to 2017.

 

 

 

For Vietnam, Korea is 2nd largest market after China.

 

 

 

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, around 2.41 million South Korean visitors arrived in Vietnam in 2017.

 

 

 

 

The South Korean government has launched a new visa policy to Vietnamese in the major cities. Vietnamese passport holders who reside in Hanoi, Danang and HCMC can apply for five-year South Korean visas. They can stay for up to 30 days per trip.

 

 

 

 

There were more than 60,000 MICE tourist arrivals from Vietnam to Korea which is a rise of 7.3 per cent against the same period in 2017.

 

 

 

Out of the 32 markets in Korea, Vietnam is ranked first in MICE tourism, with 235 groups. The groups have over 100 persons.

 

 

 

 

South Korea expects to attract more than 450,000 Vietnamese visitors in 2018. This would record an increase of 40 per cent year-on-year.

 

 

 

KTO in Vietnam has also implemented many tourism promotional programs, introducing 95 tourist products, such as visiting film studios of well-known Korean movies, traditional markets, high end resorts and favorite tourist attractions.
