The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Manila Office and the Incheon International Airport Corp. (IIAC) recently hosted the Korea Transit Tour Seminar at Lanson Place in the Mall of Asia complex on March 15. This seminar aimed to enlighten attendees about the unique opportunities available for Filipinos during transit through Korea, enhancing travel agency offerings with innovative travel products.

The seminar saw participation from 230 travel partners associated with KTO. Prominent airlines such as IIAC, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, Korean Air, and Delta Airlines were in attendance, offering insights and networking opportunities to travel agencies through table-top meetings.

KTO and IIAC presented three distinctive programs available to transit passengers: visa-free entry, the Free Transit Tour, and the K-Stopover program. These offerings are designed to enrich the transit experience in Korea.

KTO detailed two visa-free entry options for transit passengers. The first allows a 30-day visa-free stay for travelers holding visas to the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and 32 European Union countries. The second option offers a 3-day visa-free stay for passengers transferring to third countries outside the first category, with eligibility contingent on booking the Free Transit or K-Stopover tours.

The Free Transit Tour caters to passengers with less than 24 hours of layover, offering tours ranging from 30 minutes to 5 hours, with some attractions requiring admission fees. The K-Stopover program, designed for stopovers between 24 to 72 hours, provides a paid service that includes various accommodations, transportation options, and more.

The Free Transit Tours allow travelers to choose activities based on their layover duration, from donning traditional hanbok and crafting hangeul souvenirs to exploring local attractions like Younggungsa Temple and Paradise City. Longer layovers offer opportunities to visit locations such as the Sinpo Market, Hyundai Premium Outlet, and historical sites like Gyeongbokgung Palace.

The K-Stopover program enriches the transit experience with affordable packages that include accommodations, transportation, and exclusive tours to local destinations, aiming to offer memorable experiences in Korea.

This initiative reflects the collaboration between airlines and airport authorities to enhance the transit experience for Filipinos traveling through Korea, aiming to strengthen the 75-year-old diplomatic and tourism exchange between the Philippines and Korea. Hyung Joon Kim, director of KTO Manila, highlighted this as an opportune time for Filipinos to explore Korea and create lasting memories.
