World Travel Awards to be hosted in Okanagan

In October 2020, Okanagan will be hosting the prestigious World Travel Awards’ as the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association won a bid.

 

The North America Gala ceremony will be in conjunction with the City of Vernon and predator Ridge Golf Resort.

 

There will be 300 delegates from airlines, tour operators, travel agencies, hotel chains and hospitality businesses in attendance at the award ceremony that will be held at Predator Ridge.

This will be a coup for Okanagan, for the first time in the 27-history the World Tourism Awards will be hosted in Canada.

 

New York, Montego Bay, Orlando, the Bahamas, Antigua, and Turks and Caicos are the countries where the award was previously hosted.

 

During the recent European Gala Ceremony in Madeira, Portugal the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association won the right to host the awards.

In 2018 and 2019 the Thompson Okanagan Tourism Association received North America’s Responsible Tourism Award.

 

It was named the winner of the World’s Responsible Tourism Awards at the 25th annual World Travel Awards in Lisbon, Portugal.

 

Association CEO Glenn Mandziuk felt honoured to bring the prestigious event to the Thompson Okanagan and look forward to hosting international tourism industry leaders.
