Tanzania National Parks Authority, a government agency has given permission for proposed $1.7 million funds allocation to perk up the fastest growing sector of the country.
The industry has positioned in millions of returns for the Government and had a positive financial effect on the GDP of the country. In 2016, tourist arrivals had increased by 12.9% to reach 1.2 million. The marketing strategy has turned out well for the sector.
TANAPA is keen to add additional impetus to make the sector competitive regionally as well as continentally. Some of the funds will be utilized to aid infrastructure development for simplification of transportation of the tourists in few areas where they are hardly accessible. Improving the security to make sure that the lives of human beings along with wild animals are secure and that both do not intrude each other’s territories.
Minimum of five game reserves have been developed to national parks and the parastatal could utilize few of the finances to beef them up. They comprise Biharamulo, Burigi, Kimisi, Ibanda and Rumanyika. It is very important to make sure that their standards are at par to harvest as many tourists as possible and improve the performance of the sector.
This should assure better returns for the Government and good news to the GDP of the country. Also, they should create employment opportunities for the communities around such as tour guides and game wardens.
