On 1st December 2018, this redevelopment work on the project had started and was aimed to get completed by November 2020. However, due to the pandemic, it got delayed for a year.

The Chandni Chowk area is developed by the Delhi Government in the contemporary style to uphold Delhi tourism. From 9 AM to 9 PM, there will be a restriction on the motorized vehicles on this road so that people coming to Chandani Chowk do not face any problems including traffic jams.

To quote The Chief Minister, “It is a historical heritage site and the entire area has been made very beautiful, seeking to bring back the glory of this old historical place. After the beautification of Chandani Chowk, tourism would get a major boost, and people coming to Delhi would be attracted to pay a visit to Chandani Chowk.”

The Govt is determined to modernize as well as do up the main road of Chandani Chowk. It’s just opposite to the Red Fort, in light of its historic significance. Chandani Chowk has its own identity. Nevertheless, people here had to face a lot of troubles due to its decaying condition. Besides, due to the crowds and traffic jams, the international image of India was getting affected adversely. Therefore, the Kejriwal government got all geared up to improve the beauty of Chandani Chowk from Red Fort to Fatehpuri Mosque, so that the visiting tourists could admire its beauty.
