For Palestinians India is a “source of inspiration” and keeps on setting an “unmatched example” while gaining a leading status worldwide, a senior Palestinian official explained, as several events were arranged all over the West Bank to observe the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in Palestine.

In an effort to bringing Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to Palestine, the Representative Office of India arranged Hindi Diwas, observed Swami Vivekananda’s birthday, marked as National Youth Day, and Makar Sankranti in various sections of Palestine between January 10-15.

Also, the period collided with the conclusion of the Swachhata Pakhwada (Cleanliness Fortnight) as part of which the ROI distributed masks and various materials related to sanitisation to local schools and charities.

The celebrations were organised together with the Municipality of Nablus, Beitunia, and the Ramallah Directorate of Education.

As part of the events to remember Swachhata Pakhwada and within the framework of social outreach to the youth of the local community, Mukul Arya, the representative of India in Palestine, on January 13th visited the Beitunia Basic Boys’ School.

Arya while addressing the students emphasized the civilisational commonalities on the importance given to cleanliness, and its relevance to the pandemic.

Mayor of Beitunia, Ribhi Doleh, Director of Ramallah Education Directorate, Basem Ereqat, School Principal Saleh Bzour, teachers, and a large number of students took part in the event.

To quote Ribhi Doleh, “not only does India support Palestine politically, but India continues as the source of inspiration for Palestinians due to its history, the doctrines of its great leadership, continues to set an unmatched example of a country that had gained its independence through non-violent means and today, has gained a leading status, not only in the region, but on the international level as well”.
