There is a 50% reduction in entry fee for all senior citizens in the tourism centers in Kerala.


This decision comes afteranapproval by the Committee regarding the well-being of the senior citizens of the Kerala Legislature for the period of 2016-2019.


The Kerala government has declared a 50% discount in entry fee for all senior citizens in the state-run tourism centers. An government order was issued in this context on Tuesday.


The Tourism Minister of Kerala P.A. Mohamed Riyassaid that this decision is part of elderly-friendly rules across all sectors in Kerala. This will inspire senior citizens to mingle with society and get relaxed after staying indoors during the times of the pandemic.


The Kozhikode Human Rights Forum had made a proposal to the Assembly Committee and urged it to think about the option of providing a concession in entry fee for the elderly citizens in tourism centers.


After going through the proposal, the house panel gave a recommendation to the Kerala government that the petition would be given a thought positively. Later, a green signal on this aspect was issued on Tuesday.


This decision is beneficial for all elderly citizens. They can mix in a better way with the society after being confined indoors all through the pandemic. The welfare of all senior citizens is a priority for the government of Kerala.
