In 2024, with the opening of Caesar’s Casino, many people will think the City of Danville as their favorite travel destination. In this area, this new development will definitely attract many new visitors. But, will it keep them coming back all the time? The leaders of Danville city are currently working to find this.
Lisa Meriwether, Danville Tourism Manager, said that it’s all about greater number of people pouring into the community, staying for more time and spending more money. Meriwether from November has been designing her objectives, comprising determining interests of the people, enlightening the local people on happenings in the area, and reforming a visitor guide.
At the time of the city council meeting on Tuesday, part of the work was made official. And now, Danville’s welcome center is back under city ownership. Beforehand, the team of state tourism functioned out of the building owned by transportation department.
Meriwether said that they have gotten the rubber stamp from the Virginia Tourism Corporation to construct this program and put their exclusive stamp on it.
To the residents of Danville and Pittsylvania County, a survey was sent to give them a say in the work, and the results are counted.
Meriwether said that they want to get familiar with what their local citizens consider and sense about where they work, live, and play. Later, this info can help them to build out a tourism market.
