Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has shown support for the first five-year plan of Hong Kong covering 2026 to 2030 and the 2026 Policy Address. GBA recognizes that these both play pivotal roles in the development of Hong Kong’s aviation sector and the region of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. GBA has pledged to grow Hong Kong’s future travel capabilities with stronger plans for connectivity in Asia while also encouraging economic growth and stating Hong Kong’s purpose as an international aviation hub.

The airline said the strategic direction outlined in the government’s development roadmap would strengthen Hong Kong’s role in connecting with wider national development priorities while creating new opportunities for industries including aviation, tourism and international business.

GBA Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Hou Wei said the policies and initiatives introduced under the new development framework would provide strong support for deeper cooperation within the Greater Bay Area. He noted that the measures would help enhance Hong Kong’s competitiveness, improve regional integration and create favourable conditions for the continued expansion of the city’s aviation industry.

The airline highlighted that Hong Kong’s position as an international aviation hub remains an important factor in supporting economic growth, tourism recovery and regional connectivity. By improving links between Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and international markets, the aviation sector is expected to play a significant role in supporting future development across the Greater Bay Area.

As part of its long-term growth strategy, Greater Bay Airlines plans to continue expanding its network by launching additional routes across Asia and destinations in the Chinese Mainland. The airline aims to provide more travel options for passengers flying to and from Hong Kong while also strengthening connections for travellers using the city as a transit hub.

GBA said its expansion plans are focused on improving passenger experience, enhancing connectivity and supporting Hong Kong’s ambition to remain a leading global aviation centre. Through increased route development and improved services, the airline intends to contribute to the sustainable growth of Hong Kong’s aviation ecosystem.

The carrier added that its future network expansion will support greater movement of passengers, businesses and visitors throughout the region, reinforcing the Greater Bay Area’s role as a major economic and travel hub.

Greater Bay Airlines’ commitment to expanding operations aligns with broader efforts to strengthen Hong Kong’s international connectivity and encourage closer links between cities within the Greater Bay Area. The airline said it will continue working towards building a stronger aviation network that benefits passengers, tourism growth and regional development.

With new government initiatives supporting infrastructure, connectivity and economic cooperation, Hong Kong’s aviation sector is expected to remain a key contributor to the city’s future growth. GBA’s planned expansion reflects the airline’s role in supporting these objectives through enhanced regional and international air connectivity.
