It has been announced that Thailand has seen its first scheduled direct flight from Warsaw with LOT Polish Airlines, marking the launch of a brand new air service between Poland and one of the best destinations for tourism in Southeast Asia. The flight LO65 reached the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on 8 October 2026, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) welcoming the inaugural flight as the airline started its operations in advance of the winter period. The direct flight provides Polish tourists with another choice apart from the option where they have to use a transfer. It will serve to reinforce the status of Bangkok as a hub to access Thailand’s beaches and resorts. Thailand is expected to host around 250,000 tourists from Poland in 2026.

LOT Increases Flight Frequency for the Winter Season

LOT Polish Airlines began the Warsaw–Bangkok service with three weekly flights between 7 and 25 October. Departures from Warsaw Chopin Airport are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with flight LO65 arriving in Bangkok the following morning.

From 26 October 2026 through March 2027, the airline plans to increase the service to five flights per week, operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. The winter schedule will provide up to 1,260 inbound seats weekly.

The increase gives travellers more departure options during the peak winter holiday period, when visitors from Central and Eastern Europe often seek warmer destinations. Travellers should check LOT’s booking system for the latest schedules, fares and availability before confirming their plans.

The service is operated using Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, with the journey taking approximately 10 hours and 20 minutes. The direct flight removes the need for an intermediate airport transfer on the Warsaw–Bangkok sector, although onward travel within Thailand may still require additional flights, rail journeys or boat transfers.

Bangkok Opens the Door to Thailand’s Holiday Destinations

Bangkok is likely to be an important first stop for visitors arriving on the new service. The capital offers historic landmarks, temples, markets, shopping districts and a wide range of Thai dining experiences.

Visitors can explore the Grand Palace, Wat Arun and the Chao Phraya River before continuing to other parts of the country. Bangkok’s domestic flight connections also make it possible to combine a city stay with a beach holiday or a visit to northern Thailand.

Phuket remains a major attraction for international visitors seeking beaches, resort accommodation, water activities and access to nearby islands. Krabi offers coastal scenery, limestone cliffs and boat excursions around the Andaman Sea, while Koh Samui attracts travellers looking for beaches, wellness retreats and island experiences in the Gulf of Thailand.

These destinations are among the markets TAT expects to benefit from stronger Polish connectivity. However, passengers travelling beyond Bangkok should compare domestic flight schedules and allow sufficient time between separately booked journeys.

Polish Tourism Market Continues to Grow

Poland has become an increasingly important European source market for Thailand. According to TAT, the country welcomed 237,570 Polish visitors in 2025, representing a 31.46 per cent increase compared with the previous year.

Between 1 January and 30 September 2026, arrivals from Poland reached 164,807, up 12 per cent against the same period in 2025. TAT’s full-year projection of approximately 250,000 visitors reflects the continued demand for Thai holidays among Polish travellers.

The average stay of around 14 days creates opportunities for destinations beyond Bangkok to benefit from visitor spending. Longer holidays can accommodate multi-stop itineraries, including time in the capital followed by coastal resorts or island destinations.

For tourism businesses, the direct flight provides an additional connection through which travel companies can develop packages, promote regional destinations and offer longer itineraries. TAT has also been working with Polish travel partners to promote Thailand and familiarise industry representatives with its tourism products.

What the New Route Means for Travellers

Travellers intending to visit Thailand may find a more convenient option in terms of the Warsaw-Bangkok connection. This flight will also be beneficial for tourists from other Central European markets who will have an opportunity to transit in Warsaw, depending on schedule and ticket availability. Travellers need to familiarise themselves with the visa rules as well as the conditions of travelling to other countries. Those choosing individual domestic flights need to allow enough time for connecting and verify baggage allowances with both airlines. Vacationing in places like Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui, one needs to take into account weather conditions, resort availability and transfer conditions. Certain islands require a domestic flight and subsequent transfer to the destination by ferry, making the entire journey exceed the flight time. The launch of the new flight contributes to expanding the number of direct connections with Europe that Thailand enjoys as the country is preparing itself for the winter holiday season. With the increased number of flights starting at the end of October, the LOT offer gives travellers yet another option for a direct trip from Poland to Thailand.
