Canada joins the US and more key markets in skyrocketing Bahamas tourism through a surge in tourism for eight straight months in 2026, driven by rising visitor demand, stronger air connectivity, growing international arrivals and increased interest in the destination’s Caribbean experiences.

The Bahamas welcomed 1,314,639 stopover visitors from January through July 2026, up 4.3% from 1,260,436 during the same period in 2025. Based on a continuation of the average monthly pace recorded during those seven months, the country could reach approximately 1.50 million stopover visitors by the end of August 2026.

The projection points to continued expansion across all six source-market groups. The United States could exceed 1.23 million visitors, Canada could cross 110,000, and Europe could approach 71,000. These are straight-line projections rather than official August results, and actual performance could differ because of seasonality, airline capacity, weather and booking patterns.

Projected January–August figures are calculated by extending the January–July 2026 average monthly arrival pace through August. Estimated YoY growth assumes each market maintains its January–July growth rate.

United States – August Projection Could Push Arrivals Above 1.23 Million

The United States supplied 1,084,570 stopover visitors through July 2026, compared with 1,071,007 in 2025, producing 1.3% growth and an 82.5% market share. Continuing the seven-month average would lift January–August arrivals to approximately 1,239,509. Frequent air connections, geographical proximity and strong resort demand continue to make the US the foundation of Bahamas tourism.

Canada – Projected to Cross 110,000 Visitors After 15.4% Surge

Canada is delivering much faster growth. Arrivals climbed from 83,510 in January–July 2025 to 96,401 in 2026, an increase of 15.4%, while its market share rose to 7.3%. Maintaining the current average pace could produce approximately 110,173 Canadian visitors through August 2026. Warm-weather demand, air connectivity and the appeal of Caribbean resort holidays continue to strengthen this market.

Europe – Eight-Month Arrivals Could Approach 71,000

European stopover arrivals reached 61,805 through July 2026, compared with 59,437 a year earlier, generating 4.0% growth and a 4.7% market share. Extending the current monthly average would put January–August arrivals at approximately 70,634. European travellers provide important long-haul diversification through demand for beaches, island experiences, resorts and premium Caribbean holidays.

Caribbean – 44.4% Growth Could Push Arrivals Beyond 20,000

Neighbouring Caribbean markets produced one of the strongest percentage increases. Arrivals jumped from 12,632 to 18,242, representing 44.4% growth, while their share increased from 1.0% in 2025 to 1.4% in 2026. At the January–July average pace, the eight-month total could reach approximately 20,848 visitors, demonstrating the growing importance of regional leisure, business and family travel.

Latin America – Double-Digit Growth Could Deliver Around 26,500 Visitors

Latin America supplied 23,160 visitors through July, up 16.4% from 19,889, and represented 1.8% of Bahamas stopover demand. A continuation of the average monthly pace would bring the January–August 2026 figure to approximately 26,469 visitors. The expansion gives the Bahamas another meaningful growth market outside its dominant North American visitor base.

Rest of the World – 118.2% Surge Could Lift Arrivals Towards 35,000

The Rest of the World category recorded the fastest growth, soaring 118.2% from 13,961 visitors in 2025 to 30,461 in January–July 2026. Its market share more than doubled from 1.1% to 2.3%. Maintaining the seven-month pace would produce approximately 34,813 visitors by August, showing how smaller international markets are collectively becoming more important to Bahamas tourism.

Bahamas Could Reach About 1.50 Million Stopover Visitors by August

If the January–July average monthly pace continues, the Bahamas could reach approximately 1,502,445 stopover visitors during January–August 2026. That would put the destination above the 1.5 million mark within eight months under this straight-line projection.

The projection highlights two different trends. The United States remains the volume powerhouse, potentially supplying around 1.24 million visitors, while smaller markets are growing much faster. Canada could maintain growth around 15.4%, Latin America around 16.4%, the Caribbean around 44.4%, and the Rest of the World category around 118.2%.

The projected January–August figures remain estimates and should not be presented as official August 2026 tourism results until the corresponding statistics are released.

Canada joins the US and more markets in skyrocketing Bahamas tourism through a surge in tourism for eight straight months in 2026, supported by rising stopover arrivals, stronger travel demand, expanding connectivity and growing interest from global visitors.

In conclusion, Canada joins the US and more markets in skyrocketing Bahamas tourism through a surge in tourism for eight straight months in 2026, supported by strong visitor demand, expanding international arrivals, improved connectivity and growing interest across key source markets. While the US continues to provide the largest share of visitors, rising contributions from Canada, Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and other regions are helping the Bahamas strengthen its tourism growth and diversify its global visitor base.
