The new services will begin on 29 May 2027 and operate three times weekly throughout the summer schedule until 31 October 2027. Kilimanjaro International Airport acts as a gateway to several major national parks and conservation areas that attract visitors from around the world.

The region includes Serengeti National Park, famous for the annual Great Migration, where millions of wildebeest, zebras and other animals move across the plains in search of water and grazing areas. The route also connects visitors with the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its dramatic volcanic landscape and abundant wildlife, including the Big Five.

Travellers arriving through Kilimanjaro can also explore Tarangire National Park, which is renowned for its large elephant populations and distinctive baobab trees, as well as Lake Manyara National Park, recognised for its diverse ecosystems and scenic surroundings.

Beyond safari tourism, the destination provides access to Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. Alongside Kilimanjaro, British Airways will launch flights to Zanzibar, giving travellers direct access to one of Tanzania’s most popular island destinations.

Zanzibar is known for its combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage and historic attractions. The island’s capital, Stone Town, is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and features historic buildings, traditional markets and cultural landmarks reflecting centuries of global connections.

The destination is also famous for its spice plantations, earning it the nickname “Spice Island”. Visitors can explore farms producing cloves, cinnamon and other local products while discovering the island’s unique traditions.

Zanzibar’s coastline remains a major attraction for international visitors, with white-sand beaches, clear waters, coral reefs and marine activities including snorkelling and diving. The island’s beachfront resorts and relaxed atmosphere continue to attract travellers looking for a tropical escape combined with cultural experiences.

British Airways Expands Latin America Network For Summer 2027

In addition to the Tanzania routes, British Airways will increase its Latin America capacity by 25 per cent for summer 2027.

The airline will introduce non-stop flights to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with onward services to Santiago, Chile. The updated schedule will provide direct connectivity between London and Buenos Aires while improving access to Chile through regular onward operations.

Brazil will also receive additional capacity, with the London to Rio de Janeiro service moving to a dedicated daily route without an onward connection. The change will provide more direct travel options for passengers visiting one of South America’s leading tourism markets.

The airline will also operate London Heathrow to San José, Costa Rica as a year-round service, running three times weekly. Additional flights will be added on key leisure routes, including London Heathrow to Cape Town, South Africa, which will increase from seven weekly services to 10 weekly flights.

Flights between London Heathrow and Las Vegas will also increase, moving from 13 weekly services to 14 flights per week.

The airline will also maintain direct flights between London Gatwick and Saint Lucia, operating four times weekly during summer 2027.

Further long-haul expansion will include new flights between London Gatwick and Colombo, Sri Lanka, beginning on 23 October, while flights from London Heathrow to Melbourne, Australia, via Kuala Lumpur, will start on 9 January.

With new connections to Tanzania and expanded services across multiple continents, British Airways is increasing access to major leisure destinations while strengthening its position across key international travel markets for 2027.
