Distinctive Approach to Rural Tourism Development
Embarking on a distinctive journey, UN Tourism beckons Member States to partake in the submission of up to eight candidate villages through their National Tourism Administrations (NTAs). The application period extends until April 24, 2024, with the revelation of selected villages slated for the third quarter of the same year.
A panel of external independent experts, versed in diverse fields, meticulously evaluates applications across nine crucial areas: Cultural and Natural Resources, Promotion and Conservation of Cultural Resources, Economic Sustainability, Social Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability, Tourism Development and Value Chain Integration, Governance and Prioritization of Tourism, Infrastructure and Connectivity, and Health, Safety, and Security.
