Throughout this week, my colleagues and I have actively participated in various industry events, advocating for the concerns of our members and influencing discussions on UK outbound travel. It was a gratifying experience for me to address a pre-conference event in Madrid before FITUR, where I spoke about the evolving landscape of the UK’s tourism industry and its significant contributions to our economy and destinations. Notably, Spain maintains its position as the top destination for UK holidaymakers, and our collaboration with the Spanish Tourist Office is highly constructive.

At the conference, ABTA’s Susan Deer continued the dialogue on stage, shedding light on how ABTA collaborates with its members to propel the sustainable tourism agenda forward. The spectrum of issues discussed ranged from decarbonization to animal welfare. Susan emphasized the necessity of collective efforts between travel businesses and destinations to genuinely foster a transformation towards a more sustainable industry.

Last night, Simon Bunce, ABTA’s Director of Legal Affairs, participated in a panel alongside other legal experts at TravLaw’s annual Big Tent Event. Simon delved into the reviews of package travel regulations in both the UK and EU, underscoring ABTA’s commitment to representing the interests of its members.

The knowledge and insights shared at these industry events only scratch the surface of the expertise available to ABTA members. Our entire team is dedicated to assisting your business not only by championing crucial issues, as mentioned earlier, but also by offering personalized advice and guidance through our resources and events program. Our aim is to support the flourishing of your business.
