ABTA rail strikes

The annual seminar, which focuses on current affairs and legislative issues facing the travel sector, had been set to take place in London on Wednesday (22 June).

Train strikes are planned for Tuesday (21 June), Thursday (23 June) and Saturday (25 June) next week, with passengers also warned not to travel on other days due to heavily reduced services.

An ABTA spokesperson said the association did not yet have an alternative date confirmed, but adding a rescheduled event was likely to be towards the end of the year.

With such an important event for members and the industry, they do not want to run the risk of people not being able to attend, and nor did they feel a move to an online event only would be welcomed by most delegates, ABTA said in a statement.

Former home secretary Amber Rudd had been due to give the seminar’s keynote address, while Nikki da Costa, a former Director of Legislative Affairs at 10, Downing Street under both Boris Johnson and Theresa May, was also set to speak alongside a host of travel industry leaders.
