ABTA Trio Honored in 2024 Women in Trade Associations Powerlist

Angie Hills, Vicki Wolf, and Emma Brennan of ABTA have been honored in the 2024 Women In Trade Associations Powerlist, unveiled on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2024. Now in its second iteration, the Powerlist recognizes remarkable women in trade associations who excel in their sectors, mentor colleagues, and consistently meet their members’ needs.

As Head of Destinations at ABTA, Angie Hills is pivotal in offering crucial guidance and support to members during emergencies, as well as on ongoing issues like health, safety, security, and operational procedures in travel destinations. Amid the rapid crises of the wildfires in Rhodes and Corfu last year, Angie and her team facilitated a crucial platform for communication and support among ABTA members, travel businesses, and governmental bodies in Greece and the UK, exemplifying leadership and collaborative problem-solving.

Angie commented: “Being named on the Powerlist is a wonderful endorsement of our work at ABTA to support our members not just during a crisis but with other important aspects of their business. I’m delighted to lead such a strong team of female professionals to help our members when they need us most.”

Vicki Wolf is a leading expert on education and careers in the sector. Following the Government’s announcement to de-fund post-16 education options for those wishing to pursue a travel and tourism qualification, Vicki was on the team that brought together a working group of both industry and education experts to identify a solution which is now subject to regulatory approval.

Vicki explained: “I’m passionate about giving youngsters the necessary training to develop skills so they can enjoy a rewarding career in the travel industry. Backed by a dedicated team here at ABTA, I’m delighted, that appearing on the Powerlist  will showcase the progress we have made for post-16 education options in travel to continue.”

Emma Brennan, ABTA’s Head of Media and Communications, is a prominent figure in the trade association, regularly appearing on national television and radio to address issues impacting ABTA members. In the summer of 2023, she spearheaded ABTA’s media strategy through two significant tourism disruptions during the high season: the wildfires in Rhodes and Corfu, and the air traffic control system failure during the August bank holiday. In the critical initial days of the wildfires, Emma conducted over 20 television and radio interviews, effectively quelling rumors and providing accurate information on behalf of ABTA members. Additionally, she is set to moderate ABTA’s Communicating Sustainability training event on March 21.
